IETF Flooding
I’m in Dallas for IETF 65 and the evening started with a gathering of mostly socially handicapped geeks scarfing deep fried snacks and a lovely variety of cheeses. It was raining when I arrived, and it has continued to rain. Now there is 3 feet of water between the highway and the hotel, so we are essentially surrounded by a moat. I have merged with a number of people and enjoying a few cocktails. We got hungry and headed off to get some food. Hotel staff have not been able to get to the hotel, so they don’t have enough staff to serve everyone that wants to eat. We decided to raid the convenience store, rather then wait an hour. Now the fire alarm has gone off. Flashing strobes and a recorded voice with a strong southern accent is telling us to do something. Who knows what. There is a large exit only 20 feet away, so we are all sitting waiting for our next round of drinks to arrive. This is starting off to be quite an adventurous trip.
