This was taken in a cool demo session at foo camp 05. I’m popping the ballon with a nail. Standard digital camera is on a tripod and a mic triggers the high speed flash when the ballon pops. With the lights off the rest of the time, the main source of light is during the flash, so an instance of a high speed event is captured. Now if I could only keep my eyes open when it pops.

Saw “The Island” this week. It could have been a great cult movie if it were not for all the blatant product placement in it. Puma, MSN, Nokia, Cadilac to name a few. It tries to be the Matrix, and the underlying storyline is better in some ways (more technically beleivable). My motivation for going though was I wanted to hear the movie. The sound effects for the 750 HP Cadilac were supposed recordings made from my Carrera GT that were done at the same as I helped my friends over at EA get samples for an upcoming Need for Speed.

Here is the photo that we are using for me at Sxip now. This is a nice little test post from Flickr. You would have thought that I would already have gotten this working given my involvement with Flickr.

I have given derivatives of my Identity 2.0 talk five times now, the last being at OSCON 2005. It has been very satisfying to hit the ball out of the park at a conference and have numerous people I respect comment on the high quality of the presentation. The next major derivative will be at the upcoming Web 2.0 conference in October.
